Adventure holidays - Blog - Rip n Rock

Stay safe on the beaches across Gower this summer with these helpful tips from the RNLI. Where ever possible swim at a beach with a lifeguard on visit www.goodbeachguide.co.uk to find the beach closest to you with a lifeguard.

Always read and obey the safety signs, they will often be informing you of any dangers that could occur. On lifeguard manned beaches swim between the yellow and red flags as these are the safest areas to be swimming in.

Avoid swimming alone If you see someone getting into difficulty, do not try help them unless you are trained as they could push you uner the surface in a panic, alert the beach lifeguard or if there is no lifeguard call 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard.

Yesterday we took the Cardiff Lions surfing down Gower on Llangennith Beach!! They were staying down Gower for the weekend camping in a local site and visiting a local rugby team! They were great fun in the sea and many of them were catching waves by the end of the session! The weather was just perfect for it, our hottest day of the year so far (lets hope for many more).

Well done to all the guys who got involved, I hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did.

We welcome all sports teams for great activity days like this! It is a perfect way to get your team working together in a different enviroment all while learning new skills!

A carpet of blue/purple flowers can be seen all over Gower at the minute, these delicate beautiful little flowers are called Blue Bells.

Did you know that Blue Bells are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and it is a criminal offence to remove wild common Blue Bell bulbs.

Can you smell/see the wild garlic while travelling around Gower?

Wild Garlic (Allium Ursinum) is also know as ramsons, wood garlic or bears garlic, and it is currently taking over the forests of Gower! Wild Garlic can be used for many things: as a herb, in a salad, as a boiled vegetable, in a soup or as as ingredient in a pesto (we have just made some Wild Garlic pesto and its looooooovely)!

We are now on Trip Advisor, this way clients of RIPNROCK can leave honest reviews about their experiences with us! Yesterday we were out and about Gorge Walking in waterfall country - The Neath Valley on the River Mellte!! We had a very fun and adventurous group of friends, who threw them selves at every challenge that came their way!! We scrambled across rocks, traversed along the side of the river, plunged into deep pools and jumped off big waterfalls! And all in this beautiful sunny weather, its tough calling this a 'job' - WE LOVE IT!

Yesterdays beach clean went really well, we had a brilliant turn out of volunteers to help pick up as much of litter from the valley running down to Three Cliffs Bay! We finished with many and many of bags full with rubbish.. The beach is looking much cleaner, but remember guys, always take your litter away with you unlike footprints in the sand - litter does not just wash away!

We are holding a beach clean tomorrow alongside The National Trust Gower at Three Cliffs Bay, if you fancy joining us please come along!! We will be meeting at Shepherds, Parkmill, Gower at 9:30am, you will be given everything you need, you just need to bring yourself!! If you love the great outdoors, why not come and help us keep it clean!

We had a great day coasteering yesterday! We took James and the rest of the stag party on a wild and exciting coasteer around the Gower coast!!! There was quite a lot of swell in the sea, which made it pretty hairy at points! All had a great time and we managed to get all the big jumps in too,
