Our Story

Here at RIPNROCK we offer single and multi activity days out all over South Wales from the picture perfect beaches of the Gower peninsular to the wild and watery beautiful Neath Valley.

We use some of the most stunning venues Wales has to offer for our activities, from the award winning Rhossili Bay  and the well known Llangennith beach for Surfing to Wales’ very own Celtic rainforest in waterfall county for our Canyoning and Gorge Walking. Scale the famous Three Cliffs on our rock climbing & Abseiling days and get the heart pumping with our action packed Gower coasteers.

There isn’t a corner of Gower that we don’t know, its our home, office and our playground and have a passion for sharing it with all of our visitors in a sensitive and sustainable way.

We’re a small family business who’s focus is on quality of experience and not quantity of people through the door. For this reason it’s wise to book early to avoid disappointment especially in peak season.

Let us help to create your perfect tailor-made break, with a selection of the best eating places in the areas, from quaint little beach side cafés to boutique fine dining. And for your accommodation, whether you’re on a budget or feel like splashing out… we’re here to help you build your ideal experience!

Our Team

Tony

Tony – Instructor

A highly skilled, experienced and knowledgeable instructor, Tony is never more at home than when he’s hanging off cliffs or jumping into the sea!

Tony has worked in the industry for over 13 years and has been lucky enough to have climbed, surfed, canoed, kayaked and mountaineered all over the Uk and worldwide, including Nepal, Australia, Jordan and throughout Europe- so don’t forget to ask for some fascinating stories if you meet him.

Married to wife Jodie with 3 beautiful children, when Tony’s not on some hardcore adventures of his own, he’s entertaining you on yours or chilling with his family.

Jon

Jon – Lead instructor

Jon’s a top multi activity instructor, his super friendly vibe and genuine love for the outdoors is a winning combo with our clients. If he’s not scaling Gower cliffs, jumping off them into the sea or sliding down river rapids, then he’s probably enjoying a leisurely spot of sky diving-as you do.

And when he’s not doing that, he’s got his head stuck in a book as he’s currently studying a Computer Programming Masters at Swansea Uni.

Rhys

Rhys – Lead

Rhys has been with us for the last 3 years, originally a 3rd generation beef farmer, when he showed interest in joining the team we got pretty excited! Rhys is a huge asset to the team, he’s hugely passionate about the outdoors and the environment we work in. He’s a keen surfer and cold water swimmer and is kept busy juggling work, play and his young family. You’ll mostly see Rhys leading you along the best of Gower’s coastline in our super popular coasteering activities.

Sarah

Sarah – Assistant

Avid local surfer, and recently taken up bouldering, if she’s not off on surf trips or hanging out with our lovely customers on adventures- she’s pulling out teeth! Yep, she’s a qualified Dentist too!

Scott

Scott – Lead

You’ll see Scott a lot! He’s one of our core leaders and for good reason. Scott’s super experienced and his calm and encouraging style is why we love him. He’s also a fitness fanatic and runs his own very popular fitness company with his other half Jo. Feel free to pick is brains about all things HEALTHY!

Kirsty

Kirsty – Assistant

In a past life she was a scientist. She gave up the London rat race for a slow paced, outdoor life by the coast- and she hasn’t looked back once! She’s been with us for a few months and we hope she’ll stick around a lot longer because we think she’s great!

Tom

Tom J – Lead

A walking encyclopaedia! Tom started with us a few years ago fresh from college. He’s gone on to excel, not only as an outdoor instructor, but academically too, Tom has a MSc- Conservation and Land Management and a BA hons in Outdoor activity leadership and coaching. In his spare time, he’s either surfing, mountaineering or bouldering-hard!

Bex

Bex – Assistant

Another newbie to the team! A self-confessed Bouldering addict! When she’s not on the school run, she’s bouldering and when she’s not bouldering, she’s climbing. Bex’s thurst for extreme sports and chilled out vibe is why we love her.

Joel

Joel – Assistant

Soon to be Lead and Bex’s other half and partner on many climbing adventures. Joel’s a keen climber, boulderer, mountaineer and circus member, he’s about to become a qualified rock climbing instructor.

Having spent the last few years enjoying some amazing climbing adventures all over the country, you’ll be a in great hands when you book your climbing adventures with us.

Finn

Finn

An impressive rock climber and keen surfer, Finn has been know to solo up some very difficult routes and cruise along on a surf board. Sal and Dave’s floppy eared Cocker Spaniel pup tags along on most activities and loves to play with kids, but there is one thing that over-rides all of the above…..a ball!

Dave

Dave – Instructor

Families, schools, stags, pensioners, youth offenders, groups with disabilities… you name it, he’s taken them on adventures and always seems to be having the time of HIS life!

Originally from London(ish) and a former Swansea Uni student, Dave fell in love with the South Wales vibe, the scenery and its hidden gems. He’s since fallen in love with being able to share all its wonders with you. Having surfed on 5 continents, scaled 5000+m peaks and trekked through jungles, he swears that there’s no place like home. Married to Sally, father to Tirion, Mabli and dog Finn he’s one contented dude!
